Cookie policy
Published October 2026 - Reviewed annually
This Cookie Policy explains how Elcom Systems Limited ("Company", "we", "us" and "our") uses cookies and similar technologies to recognise you when you visit our website https://www.elcom.com. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.
Some of the cookies we use may collect information that identifies you, or that could identify you when combined with other information. To find out how we handle personal data, please read our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case Elcom Systems Limited) are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies". Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (for example, advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognise your computer both when it visits the website in question and when it visits certain other websites.
Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser. These are called session cookies. Others stay on your device for a set period, or until you delete them. These are called persistent cookies. The expiry time of each cookie we use is listed in the tables below.
Why do we use cookies?
We use first-party and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our website to operate, and we refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookies. Other cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our website. Third parties serve cookies through our website for advertising, analytics and other purposes. This is described in more detail below.
The specific types of first-party and third-party cookies served through our website and the purposes they perform are described below (please note that the specific cookies served may vary depending on the pages you visit):
How can I control cookies?
Using our cookie banner
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner asks you to choose which cookies you accept. You can accept all cookies, reject all optional cookies, or choose by category using “Manage preferences”. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off.
You can change your choices at any time by clicking on the Cookie icon on the page or the Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If you switch off a category you previously accepted, we will stop using those cookies and delete the ones set by Elcom. Cookies set by third parties on their own websites (see “Cookies we use”) must be deleted through your browser.
We remember your choices for 182 days. After that, or if we make significant changes to the cookies we use, we will ask you again.
Rejecting analytics or marketing cookies will not affect how our website works.
Using your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. How you do this depends on your browser:
If you block all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, we will not be able to remember your cookie choices.
Other ways to opt out
- Google Analytics: you can stop Google Analytics collecting data on any website by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- LinkedIn: if you have a LinkedIn account, you can control how LinkedIn uses your data for advertising in your LinkedIn advertising settings.
- Online advertising: you can find out more about interest-based advertising, and opt out with many advertising companies, at Your Online Choices or About Ads.
Strictly Necessary cookies
These cookies are needed for the website to work properly, such as remembering your cookie choices. They cannot be switched off.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the website. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to measure traffic and see how pages are used, so we can improve the site.
If you reject analytics cookies, Google Analytics may still receive limited information about your visit, such as the page viewed and the type of device used. This information is sent without cookies or identifiers, so it cannot be used to recognise you.
Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies are set by LinkedIn to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and show you relevant adverts on other websites.
Cookies with a provider ending in “linkedin.com”, “clarity.ms” or “bing.com” are set by those companies on their own websites. We cannot read or delete them; they are controlled by the company that sets them. You can find out more in their privacy policies:
What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?
As well as cookies, we use some similar technologies:
- Tracking pixels: a tracking pixel (sometimes called a web beacon) is a small piece of code that tells a service when a page has been visited. It works this way, to measure visits and conversions from our LinkedIn advertising.
- Local and session storage: these let a website store small amounts of information in your browser, much like cookies. Our analytics and advertising tools may use them to support the cookies listed above.
These technologies follow the same choices you make in our cookie banner.
Email marketing
We may use third-party email marketing platforms, such as HubSpot, to send newsletters, updates and other marketing communications to people who have chosen to receive them.
When you sign up to receive emails from us, or interact with forms on our website, these platforms may set cookies or use similar technologies. These help us recognise you when you return to our site, understand which pages you visit, and connect your website activity with any information you’ve given us, such as your email address. This helps us send you content that is more relevant to you.
These cookies and tracking technologies are only used with your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by changing your cookie preferences, and you can unsubscribe from our emails using the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any marketing email we send.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
We work with third-party advertising partners to promote Elcom’s services. If you accept marketing cookies, these partners can recognise your device when you visit our website. This allows them to:
- show you relevant Elcom adverts on their platforms and on other websites
- tell us how well our advertising is working, for example how many people visited our website after seeing or clicking an advert
Our partners give us reports that combine information about many visitors. These reports do not tell us who you are. Each partner’s use of your information is covered by its own privacy policy. The advertising partners we currently use, and the cookies they set, are listed in the Marketing table under “Cookies we use”.
LinkedIn
We currently advertise on LinkedIn. If you have a LinkedIn account, LinkedIn may link your visit to our website to that account. The reports LinkedIn gives us include information such as job titles, industries and company sizes, but do not identify individuals. LinkedIn’s use of this information is covered by the LinkedIn Privacy Policy, and you can control the adverts it shows you in your LinkedIn advertising settings.
You can prevent this tracking at any time by rejecting marketing cookies on our website.
How often will you update this Cookie Policy?
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
Where can I get further information?
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or other technologies, please email us at info@elcom.com or call us on +44 20 3920 8054.
For more information about how we handle personal data, and your rights, please see our Privacy Policy. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
